A Hungarian angler caught this 130 cm pike near Dunaszerdahely, Slovakia from a quarry pond named Aquaria. The current world record is 25.0 kg.
The Hungarian angler Robert Kajos wanted to catch some perch on the 9th of February, so he used light tackle. He’s got really surprised by the result.
Due to a Slovakian protecting rule every pike must be released back to water between the 1st of January and the 31th of May.
In order to protect the fish, he measured only its length. ’I have never seen a bigger pike like this before, even on photos...’ – he said to Pecaverzum.
Due to the International Game Fish Assotiation’s world record list, the biggest registered pike was caught by Lothar Louis in Germany, 1986.
In the meantime, there was an officially unregistered catch by Czech angler Lukas Matejka. His pike weighed 26.7 kg and was 133 cm long – only 3 cm longer than this Slovakian giant.
